Raya University (RU) celebrated a remarkable academic milestone by inaugurating its ‘First Annual Research Conference Day’ on June 05, 2025, in the university’s Smart Room. The conference organized by RU’s Research, Publication, and Ethics was initiated under the theme “Research for Post-War Resilience, Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Food Security”.
The conference aimed to bring together researchers, academics, and policymakers to address the pressing challenges faced by post-conflict societies, focusing on resilience, rehabilitation, infrastructure reconstruction, and sustainable food systems.
Professor Tadesse Dejene, President of RU, in his opening speech underscored the vital role of research in healing and rebuilding communities affected by war. He also urged researchers to conduct innovative, demand driven and strategic research to redress the multifaceted problems unleashed in the region.
Prof. Subramanian from the Department of Management at RU, on his Key note speech emphasized that the conference is not only an academic gathering, but a call to action for reconstruction through knowledge and evidence-based solutions.
Mr. Temesgen Tesfay (Assis. Prof.), RU’s Research, Publication, Ethics and Induction Director, highlighted the university’s commitment to advancing research initiatives. He noted that in the 2024-2025 academic year, the university is diligently pursuing 17 ongoing projects and 6 newly initiated activities aligned with its thematic research goals.
The conference served as a vibrant platform for interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange, reinforcing the university’s commitment to community-centered development through innovative, evidence-based solutions.
The conference featured a variety of research presentations, panel discussions, attracting participation from faculty, graduate students, and invited guests from other institutions.
The successful execution of this inaugural research event not only highlighted the growing research capacity of Raya University but also laid a strong foundation for it to become a center for impactful research in the region.
